The temperature of the microclimate in the bed and between the body and clothing can affect sleep onset both if it is too hot or too cold. However, cooler temperatures are conducive to better sleep, while warmer temperatures can interfere with sleep quality and quantity. To get to sleep and stay asleep, our internal body temperature must drop by 1-3 degrees celcius. Therefore, if you're planning on taking a bath in the evening ensure you leave sufficient time for your core temperature to drop before bed.
